Cheadle Opens a ‘Hotel for Dogs’

Dog drama taps the Don

Don Cheadle is certainly one of our better actors right now and it frustrates me to no end that I missed Talk to Me and have to wait for it on DVD this October, but that is the way it goes. The Don has just signed on to star alongside Emma Roberts in the Dreamworks feature Hotel for Dogs for debut director Thor Freudenthal.

The film is based on Lois Duncan’s 1971 children’s book of the same name and revolves around two orphaned teenagers who hide dozens of stray dogs in an abandoned hotel. Cheadle will play a beleaguered social worker who keeps the kids out of trouble.

Jeff Lowell penned the screenplay and filming is expected to begin in early November.
