Cate Blanchett Primed to Replace Sienna Miller in Scott's 'Nottingham'?

One actor involved believes so

After word spread that Sienna Miller would no longer play Maid Marian in Ridley Scott's Nottingham opposite Russell Crowe with rumors saying it was because she looked too young and too slim opposite a bulked up 44-year-old Crowe it threw yet another kink in the works to the project that has been delayed since before the writers strike. However, new word out of the Telegraph says Cate Blanchett is looking more and more like Miller's successor.

Mark Strong, who has already been signed up to play Sir Guy of Gisbourne, at the London Film Critics' Circle Awards, at the Grosvenor House hotel, in Park Lane told the Telegraph, "I think Cate Blanchett is set to take the Maid Marian part… She is a wonderful actress and it would make it a much classier film if she was in it."

The film, scripted by Ethan Reiff, Cyrus Voris and Brian Helgeland is a revisionist take on the Robin Hood tale centering on the Sheriff of Nottingham (Crowe) as a noble and brave lawman who labors for a corrupt king and engages in a love triangle with Maid Marion and Robin Hood. Universal is releasing.

Thank god we have Cate for this role, Miller was always wrong for that part and I agree Cate and Russell will make it a more classier movie, Miller as Maid Marion was never right. Who wants that trollop in a good film anyway, and Cate might be slightly older but she has class and is no fatso either.

A definite YES to CATE BLANCHETT! I watched "The Curious Case of Benjamin Button" last night and my fandom towards her is sealed forever. I so want to see her on screen with Russell Crowe. They'll be magnificent!!

Forget Sienna, she can't act! She's famous because she once had an affair with Jude Law and all those gossips surrounding her private life. That's all.

I think you're being too hard on Miller. Say what you want about her personal affairs, but I still think she's a great actress…until G.I.Joe comes out. Of course, Blanchett is an improvement, considering she's one of the best actresses out there today, arguably in the top two or three.
