Casting for ‘Marc Pease Experience’ with Stiller and Schwartzman?

Open casting call in North Carolina...

This news came to me today and I guess if you live in or around North Carolina and can sing or dance you will be interested in the casting portion of this announcement, but I am more interested in how this little movie slipped through my radar, I knew nothing about it.

What we have here is a film called The Marc Pease Experience and it stars Ben Stiller and Jason Schwartzman and it is a film about Marc Pease (Schwartzman), a guy who still lives in the past, when he was the star in his high school’s musicals. Stiller will be playing Pease’s former teacher/mentor and the film includes a High School stage production of the hit Broadway musical, “The Wiz”, which means the film’s Producer’s are preparing an open casting call for singers and dancers to portray the roles from the play to be included in the film.

The film is being directed by Todd Louiso and will be distributed by Paramount Vantage. For all the audition information just browse below.

The audition is open to the public. Roles will be open to any actors (18-23 years of age) of all ethnicities. The film will be shot in the Wilmington, NC area from March 15th through April 30, 2007.

All roles will be paid according to the Screen Actors Guild payment schedule. Any actors chosen from outside the Wilmington area will be provided housing during production. Each person selected will not be needed everyday of the filming.

Auditions are open to the general public and will be held at the Lucille Shuffler Center,

Located at 2011 Carolina Beach Road, Wilmington, NC. Singers/dancers should come prepared with the song Ease On Down The Road from “The Wiz”. To ensure an appointment time, please contact Kelly or Tara at Fincannon and Associates by phone at 910-251-1500, or by e-mail to: wilmywiz@yahoo.com.
