Kate Hudson, Uma Thurman and their men...

Last week we told you that Lindsay Lohan was set to star in the lost Tennessee Williams flick The Loss of a Teardrop Diamond and today we learn that Jodie Markell will be making her feature directorial debut on the picture. The film is described as a dramatic and sometimes downbeat story centering on class tensions in 1920s Memphis, in particular on a romance between a society woman and a plantation worker. Filming is set to get underway this spring in Louisiana. Ellen Burstyn, David Strathairn and Ann-Margret also are attached. [Variety]

Uma Thurman has just found a whole fleet of actors joining her on The Accidental Husband for Yari Film Group and director Griffin Dunne. Colin Firth, Jeffrey Dean Morgan, Sam Shepard, Isabella Rossellini, Lindsay Sloane and Justina Machado have all joined the cast of the romantic comedy, which begins shooting today in New York. In the picture Thurman plays a love doctor who hosts a local radio show about relationships. When a listener (Machado) takes her advice and dumps her boyfriend, only to regret it, she decides to wreak havoc on the doc's personal life. [Variety]

New Bond girl, Eva Green is now attached to star in In the Country of Last Things for director Alejandro Chomski from his own script, which is an adaptation of Paul Auster's novel. The film is described as a postapocalyptic quest in which the majority of society is homeless and theft is so rampant it is no longer a crime, and death — by arranging either suicide or assassination — is the only way out. Buildings collapse daily, driving huge numbers of citizens into the streets, where they starve or die of exposure — if they aren’t murdered by other vagrants first. Government forces haul away the bodies, and licensed scavengers collect trash and precious human waste. Weird cults form around the most popular methods of suicide. Anne Blume (Green) comes to this unnamed city in search of her brother and finds friendship — even love — amid the devastation. The picture will shoot in Argentina in English and Spanish this winter. [Production Weekly]

Matt Lanter, former star of "Commander in Chief" and new star of "Heroes" is set to star in War Games 2 – The Dead Code, a sequel to the 1983 Matthew Broderick starrer. The new film finds Lanter playing a computer hacker Will Farmer, whose world gets turned upside after playing an online terrorist-attack simulator game against a government super-computer designed to profile potential terrorists. All hell breaks loose when Homeland Security is convinced that he’s a terrorist intent on disrupting the fabric of society. Production begins November 20 in Montreal under the direction of Stuart Gillard from Randall M. Badat's script. [Production Weekly]

David Denman and Camille Mana have found themselves roles in Noam Murro's Smart People. Denman and Mana join Sarah Jessica Parker and Dennis Quaid in the pic which centers on a professor (Quaid) whose wife's death has turned him into a bitter eccentric. He learns to reconnect with people after falling for a former student. Denman will play a neurologist who's a friend to Parker, while Mana will play a college student who's having an affair with her professor's son. [Variety]

Mike Arnold and Chris Poole have sold a pair of scripts to Fox Atomic and New Line Cinema. The first is titled Captain Awesome which went to Fox Atomic. The plot of that one is being kept quiet so there is very little to say. The second is The Grackle, which was sold to New Line as a starring vehicle for Matthew McConaughey. Lucky for us there is also no word on what that one is about either. [Variety]
