I'm no fan of most politicians — least of all most U.S., Republican politicians — these days. But the comedy "stylings" ( and uh, "relevant…social statements") of Sacha Baron Cohen's movies are akin to dropping a burning paperbag full of dog shit on a porch and ringing the doorbell before running off (to watch from a distance as the household residents try to stomp out the fire). Comedy by and for morons, simple as that. And the popularity of such films isn't surprising, given that American Idol and other such idiocies are big ratings hits on television. As the character of Ridley put it in "Aliens": "Did IQs just drop sharply while I was away?" (Yeah…and more's the pity).

I think its even more sad that Ron Paul simply writes off Cohen without even seeing his work. Sure its vulgar and its full of raunchy, cheap laughs but an intelligent person can see through that and pick up on the relevant, and sometimes alarming, social statements that Cohen makes in his films.
Also, if any politicial out there wants to know how to sound old and out of touch, go back to 1:40.
