Box-Office Oracle: Jun. 6 - Jun. 8, 2008

Another award winning Oracle column coming at ya! Hail Panda!

#1 movie predicted correctly: 6 Weeks in a Row
Kind of a lay-up weekend. This film won't hit Nemo dollars but it will do very well as it has crossover appeal for geeks and kids alike.
Estimate: $55.8 million
Sure, people know about this movie... but when you ask them their opinion they say "I don't get it... why is he a hairdresser?" This is a fair question that's never truly answered by the film itself. I see this one passing like a ship in the night, falling short of most predictor's expectations.
Estimate: $27.4 million
This will drop 53.5% because most of the ladies geared up to see it the first weekend. Call it the Indy Jones one and done phenomenon.
Estimate: $26.6 million
Speaking of, this stands at $490m worldwide. That's got to be considered a failure, right? I would think a billion was the goal. Heck, the third one made half a billion in 1989 dollars.
Estimate: $22.3 million
I'm still pissed I whiffed on this one last weekend. It was like screwing up the signature on my painted masterpiece. Ah, well. Horror always jobs me.
Estimate: $10.3 million
In my summer predictions I had Sex and the City making $280m (It's at $68m after one week and looking good). I had Iron Man at $315 domestically (it stands at $278m). I put Indy at $350 (it's at $223m domestically but still has some play left in it). In first I had Hancock, my big gamble of the summer. I only bring all this up to point out one very important thing: I am very, very smart.
Estimate: $7.5 million
Now then, did B-Luv take Narnia to finish fourth for the summer? He did. And has it only made $117m domestically? Indeed. It's okay though, he's still a pretty swell guy.
Estimate: $5.7 million
You won't believe me, but this is about to crack the hundred million dollar mark internationally. You know what that means? People are judging America by this. That's terrifying.
Estimate: $4.2 million
This has made $9,311 internationally. So they aren't judging us by this one. Whew.
Estimate: $1.1 million
You poor flawed bastard! If only they'd made you NC-17. It would have been a once in a generation film.
Estimate: $1.0 million
