These types of movies don't get critical acclaim, and shouldn't.

I'm not disagreeing with your assessment from a "critic's standing," I just think – in my opinion – that it should be stated the movie is still entertaining. I would never go to a movie, such as this one, with an expectation of thought provoking entertainment; however, if it would have happened, it have been a bonus.

The only problem with that logic is that the Blu-ray actually offers the tools for the user to do the thinking you say is not necessary.

In almost every single movie each piece has been meticulously thought out by the filmmaker including why these guys are punk rockers, why they have turned to cannibalism and obviously based on that why they listen to the Fine Young Cannibals. So to say you shouldn't think is to go against the filmmakers intentions because they certainly thought about it a lot.

ESCAPE FROM NEW YORK is the main influence here, even the title font is the same as all of John Carpenter films. Tyler Bates score is also very much in vein with Carpenter's scores as well. Just as Max became a hero to many when The Road Warrior hit theaters, Sinclair did for me – she kicks ass!

Bottomline, although the acting left something to be desired, most of the rules go out the window when it comes to B movies. Everyone has their opinions, and critically this doesn't rank, but it was fun and will definitely find a place in my movie library.

You must check out The Descent, there is one scene in there especially that almost makes you feel claustrophobic it is pulled off so well. A definite must see!

While Im one of the few horror fans who hasnt seen The Descent yet, I LOVE Dog Soldiers, one of the most underrated horror films ever, in my opinion. Good acting and some great practical special effects and gore.
