Putting aside the fact Ridley Scott's always going to direct well, the story was fascinating. I really hope there is a director's cut for this, as I felt it needed some room to breathe. I can't really think of a film quite like Body Of Lies, a proper, modern espionage thriller set in the middle east. "The Kingdom" is all that comes to mind. After I read the reviews I was prepared to be disappointed, but I was shocked at how good it was! Putting aside the fact Ridley Scott's always going to direct well, the story was fascinating.

I really hope there is a director's cut for this, as I felt it needed some room to breathe.

I do agree that there are better made movies, but none that rank as highly on my list just because I like the way it was made and the story it possessed. I am obsessive about Ridley Scott and am probably as harsh as anyone toward him in a fair way because I expect a higher level out of him, but I thought for the genre that this was a remarkably well done film. But then again, I am in the minority with a lot of my preferences. I still believe that the director's cut of Kingdom of Heaven was one of the greatest films of all time, but to be honest, I had a turned stomach with what the studio forced out in the theatrical version.
