'Batman and Robin' Scripter Set to Reboot 'The Fantastic Four'
You asked for it... you got it...

In case you suffer from short-term memory loss, let me remind you the last time we had a film based on Marvel's Fantastic Four was in 2007. Prior to that you have to go all the way back to 2005! Yeah, intense eh? So considering we have been without the plastic man, invisible woman, fire man and rock guy for upwards of two years now Fox has decided it's time to light the fires under that franchise once again with a reboot.
On the heels of the announcement Disney has purchased Marvel, Variety reports 20th Century Fox has already begun overhauling one of its big Marvel franchises, Fantastic Four, to take the property beyond the two films already made. Michael Green, the co-exec producer of TV's "Heroes" who co-wrote "Green Lantern," will write the script for the new Fantastic Four. Akiva Goldsman is on board to produce and oversee the feature. On top of writing the recently released Angels and Demons and I Am Legend, Goldsman's superhero past includes co-writing Batman Forever and scripting Batman and Robin in 1997. He also served as producer on the Will Smith anti-hero film Hancock in 2008.
This news confirms a report from IESB.net back in March. The site originally wrote the "franchise is looking to be 'less bubble gum' this time around following the Iron Man template."
Considering this is being looked at as a reboot of the franchise, I would expect original director Tim Story and the cast made up of Ioan Gruffudd, Jessica Alba, Chris Evans and Michael Chiklis won't be returning.
The first two films grossed over $619 million worldwide but also received horrible reviews from reviewing press.
