Bateman Joins Clooney 'Up in the Air'
Reitman's next pic finds an old friend

One of the films I included in my early look at what films could potentially be 2010 Oscar candidates I included Jason Reitman's Up in the Air, which at the time included George Clooney and Vera Farmiga as the main principals. Well, go ahead and add a Juno co-star to that list as Jason Bateman has joined the cast of the dramedy which I believe is already shooting.
The film stars Clooney as Ryan Bingham, a corporate hatchet man who loves his life on the road but is forced to fight for his job when his company downsizes its travel budget. He is required to spend more time at home just as he is on the cusp of a goal he's worked toward for years: reaching five million frequent flyer miles and just after he's met the frequent-traveler woman of his dreams. Bateman will play Clooney's boss.
The picture is based on the Walter Kirn novel and was adapted by Reitman for DreamWorks Pictures. As of right now there is no release date set.
