Bardem has 'Cholera'

New drama for Javier.

Variety reports that Javier Bardem (The Sea Inside) has signed on to star in Love in the Time of Cholera for New Line Cinema and director Mike Newell.

The film is based on the novel by Nobel Prize-winning author Gabriel Garcia Marquez, and chronicles a love triangle set against the backdrop of turn-of-the-century South America. The story revolves around two young lovers who wait out careers, marriages, affairs and deaths until they can finally reunite.

Bardem will next be seen in Goya's Ghosts opposite Natalie Portman for director Milos Forman.
