UPDATED: ‘Avatar’ and ‘Dragonball’ Concept Art Featured in New Interview

Blue aliens and spiked hair drawings

UPDATE #2: Okay, full story can be found here, but none of the art is real, it is just a group of images Jonay Bacallado made and added to his portfolio. Get the details here.

UPDATE: MarketSaw has published new looks at the images but I have removed them from this article at the request of the copyright holder. They have two pages of concept art from the flick right here and here. Original article follows.

Thanks to i09 we have six new looks at what are assumed to be concept art that inspired the female alien, Na’vi, from James Cameron’s Avatar as well as six looks at art he drew for Fox’s Dragonball. The pics come from Plan.Siete and while we can’t confirm they are the actual final art that inspired the final product, they were used to inspire the characters. The art was drawn by Jonay Bacallado and taken from a video interview with the artist, which is why they are not of the highest quality.

I wish I could tell you more, but the video is in 100% Spanish and being an uneducated American I come equipped with knowledge of only one language and I am still doing my best at mastering that one. However, if any of you can help tell us what he is saying then please, by all means, let us know in the comments below. I was able to find a translation for the Dragonball moments at DBthemovie.com:

This is one of those projects where the artist already has a reference to look off of; my job was not as big as that of say, the producer, because I already had a reference to expand from. To tell you the truth, It was really complicated, we had so much work to do to redesign every character to get them to where they’re at now.

Jonay Bacallado has done work on Mel Gibson’s Apocalypto, HBO’s “Rome” and Transformers.
