Are You Excited for Tonight's Premiere of 'Heroes' Season 4?
It's only hours away, will you be watching?
To the right is a preview for tonight's two-hour premiere of "Heroes" on NBC and as you can see around the site NBC is promoting the show a lot around these parts, but I can't help but wonder where the "Heroes" fans stand when it comes to the show that took television by storm in 2006, disappointed in 2007, hit a writers strike snag in 2008 and is now back with a season headlined by the name "Redemption." I mean things even got so bad writer/producer Tim Kring apologized for the show's problems in season two and I still can't stop laughing looking at the these three quotes from the season three premiere.
I didn't really think about writing this until reading Brian Moylan's editorial headlined "Dear 'Heroes': Our Abusive Relationship Is Over" talking about the roller-coaster he had gone on over the past three years and how he just wasn't believing the promise of improvement any longer. He writes:
This time, when you say that you know the road has been hard, and that you're going to improve. You said you would dedicated the whole year to "Redemption," but we're just not believing you. You proposed a threeway with that lovable villain Robert Knepper, who warmed our loins for the years during Prison Break, and said you would take us to the circus, and we were tempted. But then we remembered all the horrible things you did to us last year, and that we would much rather play with a bunch of girls and gossip than try to save the world with you.
Is this feeling representative of the rest of you? Are more and more people becoming one-time "Heroes" fans as opposed to remaining dedicated fans?

I will admit I thought the first season was enjoyable, but I really didn't like the second season and the two-hour premiere for the third season was so bad I still haven't watched the complete third season on Blu-ray even though it's been sitting on my coffee table for almost a month now. However, the flashy promos featured on NBC during the football game last night sort of make me wish I had. I mean, at least I could record tonight's premiere and watch it at my leasure and perhaps get back into the swing of things. After all, there is only so long an audience is going to stick with this show, which seems to me makes season four a make-or-break season.
What "Heroes" did was manage to capture the attention of a fickle audience, a comic book loving audience, but the one thing everyone seems to overlook when it comes to that audience is that they are also an intelligent audience with a very low tolerance for crap. This is evident in damn near everything comic book related. Just look at movies like Ghost Rider and Fantastic Four. These are movies that are blasted from all sides and yet they continue to make over $100 million simply because comic fans will pretty much give anything comic related a chance, but be damned if you fail them.
So I have to wonder, with all the promos and the excitement of another season a mere hours away, are you looking forward to it and ready to give "Heroes" a fourth shot or have you give up on the show like Gawker's Brian Moylan?
