Apted Confirmed for ‘Narnia’ Sequel

Rumors have been spot on lately

This time the first rumor came from Ain’t It Cool News and much like the Bond 22 rumor it has proven true as Michael Apted will indeed direct The Chronicles of Narnia: The Voyage of the Dawn Treader, which will serve as 2009’s sequel to 2008’s The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian.

Apted has directed such Narnia fan favorites as Coal Miner’s Daughter, Nell and the “best” Bond of them all The World is Not Enough (ooh smell the sarcasm).

In Voyage of the Dawn Treader Lucy and Edmund Pevensie return to Narnia with their cousin Eustace where they meet up with Prince Caspian for a trip across the sea aboard the royal ship The Dawn Treader. Along the way they encounter dragons, dwarves, merfolk, and a band of lost warriors before reaching the edge of the world.

Look for The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian in theaters on May 16, 2008, and Voyage of the Dawn Treader has already slotted a May 1, 2009 release.
