Anthony Hall Joins ‘Dark Knight’ Cast

Breakfast Club to Batman

Anthony Michael Hall of current “The Dead Zone” fame and previous The Breakfast Club fame has joined the cast of The Dark Knight and told The Daily News that the plot is so secret he’s forbidden to even say what character he’s portraying. Oh wow, I am shaking in my boots at the secret plotline that will be revealed once the trailer hits and before the movie is even released.

Honestly, what is up with this current trend to hide plot details and all this garbage? We always know the story before it is released, especially if it is a comicbook movie. Then again, could Nolan be making a second Batman film in the same style as he did Memento? I think not, and it isn’t like this is The Prestige. Why did Sam Raimi hide Venom from Spider-Man 3 fans for so long? Because he was hardly in the movie making it a disappointing appearance. So why do it?

Hall told The Daily News, “I signed a confidentiality agreement, and I can’t say which part I’m playing because it affects the story… I can’t give away the suspense — it’s a $200 million surprise, and I don’t want to be the guy to ruin it. It’s really a great role. I’m in throughout the whole movie, and I’m really looking forward to working with Christian and Morgan and all these real Hollywood heavy hitters.” I hope it affects the story, because if it didn’t it would be one odd role.

Hall continued saying, “I’m excited about it — Christian Bale back as Batman. Heath Ledger is joining the cast as the Joker. Of course, Morgan Freeman and Michael Caine return, and they’re great.”

He made it to the first day of shooting in London this past Saturday and is not scheduled to rejoin the shoot until August. He said, “They’re shooting in London, Chicago and Hong Kong. My next dates are in Chicago, the third week of August with Morgan, then I get to go back to London.” He adds he’s never been a comic-book fan, but “I loved the ‘Batman’ series, so Batman has truly always meant something to me. It’s really been one of my dreams as an actor to become Batman.”

The Dark Knight hits theaters on July 18, 2008 and here is the current storyline minus all the juicy clandestine details that will soon rock your world:

Batman raises the stakes in his war on crime. With the help of Lieutenant Jim Gordon and District Attorney Harvey Dent, Batman sets out to dismantle the remaining criminal organizations that plague the city streets. The partnership proves to be effective, but they soon find themselves prey to a reign of chaos unleashed by a rising criminal mastermind known to the terrified citizens of Gotham as The Joker.
