Anthony Hopkins and Josh Brolin in Next Woody Allen Pic
He keeps reeling 'em in...
One of my most anticipated films this year is Woody Allen's Whatever Works, primarily because it is a Woody Allen film, but on top of that it stars Larry David and Evan Rachel Wood in which a highly eccentric character (David) runs into a young girl from the South and soon after, her mother and soon after, her father. The three of them, along with Larry David's crazy Greenwich Village friends, get into a series of highly improbable, far out, romantic entanglements. Sounds good to me, but it seems Allen isn't sticking around his beloved New York City for long as his next movie has him shipping back across the pond.
Allen has set Josh Brolin and Anthony Hopkins to star in an as yet untitled film he wrote and will shoot in London this summer. As always the plot and title are being kept quiet and apparently Brolin and Hopkins are just the first to be added to what is said to be an ensemble cast.
This will be Brolin's second time working with Allen after having a role in 2004's Melinda and Melinda.
Obviously without any plot or idea of what the hell the film is about I have no opinion on this outside of excitement at knowing there is more from Woody on the way. It never ceases to amaze me how many films this guy makes and how many of them he writes, and yet the majority of his films end up far better than a lot of the films that are worked on for years. Go figure.
