'Angels and Demons' Good Career Move for McGregor

Finally we get this guy a real role

Ewan McGregor

Ewan McGregor wasn't all that bad in Woody Allen's Cassandra's Dream, the movie just sucked. Outside of that he has taken a serious career hit starring in those shitty Star Wars prequels as well as the just released Deception. Actually, looking at McGregor's recent films he hasn't had a good one since 2003's Big Fish and I don't think everyone agrees with me on how good that flick was.

However, we have a good move for McGregor as he is in negotiations to play a powerful Vatican insider who assists Robert Langdon in Angels and Demons.

Just yesterday we learned Ayelet Zurer will take on the female lead in the film in which Tom Hanks returns as religious art scholar Robert Langdon from The Da Vinci Code.

Luckily for McGregor Angels and Demons is Shakespeare compared to The Da Vinci Code, which was a vastly overrated shit pile of a book that turned into a just above average movie. Angels finds Langdon entangled with powerful forces with ancient roots: the Illuminati — the most powerful underground organization in history — and the Catholic Church. Zurer will play Vittoria Vetra, an Italian scientist who joins forces with Langdon.

Ron Howard is back to direct the flick from an Akiva Goldsman script.

Angels and Demons is set to hit theaters on May 15, 2009.

I have to disagree with you there Brad, the da vinci movie was even worse that the waste of paper it was based on.

I hope you're right about Angels and Demons but I'm not holding my breath.

If you haven't read Angels and Demons you may enjoy it. I hated Da Vinci Code and stopped reading near the middle after the endless amount of "get in trouble/get out of trouble" sequences, but Angels and Demons is far more engaging. However, I stopped reading that one too so as not to spoil the ending of the movie. I am weird, yeah, but still… :)
