Hey folks, looks like Sarah Michelle Gellar is out and Amber Tamblyn is in as the star of the soon-to-begin-shooting sequel The Grudge 2. Tamblyn's performance in the upcoming Sundance Film Festival feature Stephanie Daley has caught the eye of the higher ups over at Columbia Pictures and landed Tamblyn the part. The film features Amber as a teen who is accused of murdering her newborn (you can get more here along with a couple of pics).

As for The Grudge 2, this doesn't mean Gellar is completely off the project, she will make a brief appearance as the older sister of Tamblyn's character.

Shooting will begin in Tokyo next month using a script from original scripter Stephen Susco and helmer Takashi Shimizu is back again to revisit his popular franchise both domestically and back home in Japan.
