Already Talks of More Killing for ‘Mr. Brooks’

Costner thriller already thinking sequels

In an interview with Entertainment Weekly Kevin Costner talked a bit about his creepy new thriller Mr. Brooks a film in which Costner plays a loving family man and a local business icon who just happens to be a serial killer on the side. The film opens on June 1, and Costner doesn’t see it as the last time Mr. Brooks will be on the big screen.

Costner told EW, ”I wasn’t dying to do a role like this. I’m not a guy that goes ‘Boo!’ But when I read it, I thought the writers found an amazing window into the subject matter. Now I feel this is as strong a performance as I’ve ever given.”

He continued by saying, ”This was written with the idea that we would do a couple others… When the writers first presented the notion to me, I said, ‘Oh, bulls—! I haven’t done Tin Cup 2, or Bull Durham 2, or Open Range: The Early Years, so you don’t have to try to hook me with that.’ But when they told me their idea, the hair on the back of my neck stood up. We’re hoping this little movie develops a following so we can play this story out the way it should.”

Open Range: The Early Years? Were people really discussing that one? I mean the first one was a’ight, but a prequel? Nevertheless, the film actually looks pretty good and it looks like screwball Dane Cook might be alright in it. If you are so inclined click here to check out the trailer.
