Alba Passes on ‘Fantastic Four 2′ for ‘Jeannie’ Role?

Rumors abound...

I have no idea if this is true or not and I can only assume it is not, because Fantastic Four was not as bad as everyone wanted it to be and who would Jessica Alba be to abandon a role in a superhero franchise that is sure to make her a large amount of money?

All that said, it seems Richard Johnson over at the New York Post has heard otherwise, check out the clipping below for what he had to say:

A sequel to this year’s Fantastic Four is in the works, and the original stars are set to reprise their superhero roles — except for Jessica Alba. After starring in the first flick with Michael Chiklis and the lesser-known likes of Ioane Gruffud, Chris Evans, and Julian McMahon, the sexy starlet is uncertain the follow-up would be a judicious career move. Instead, we hear Alba has agreed to star alongside Jimmy Fallon in the movie remake of the classic sitcom, I Dream of Jeannie. She’ll get to show a lot more skin than Barbara Eden, who was forced by censors to cover her navel. Alba declined to comment.

That last part “Alba declined to comment” has me thinking they tried to talk to her but just didn’t get a call back, not that they got in touch with her and she actually said, “I decline to comment.”

From what I understand the core group of Fantastic Four all signed three picture deals, which means they have to come back for at least two more pictures if they are called upon, they have no choice in the matter. Therefore, Alba can’t just say, “No, I won’t do it. It isn’t going to be beneficial to my career, but putting on a little genie costume will be.” I guess skin tight, cleavage revealing superhero costumes just don’t have as much pull as they used to. After all, last I heard Lindsay Lohan was up for the role of Jeannie, but that was a while back.

If I were you I would take this news with a grain of salt as official word will almost certainly come out soon if any of this is true.
