300, I Am Legend, Casablanca, JFK and Many More Big DVD Releases on the Way

Get a load of these goodies...

So, in September Paramount is going to release the fully restored collection of The Godfather trilogy on Blu-ray and DVD. It looks like Warner Home Video is also going to get in on the action as well.

Yesterday I received an email with a link to this site featuring a Flash video announcing a November 11 release of "The Sopranos" the complete series. The set includes the complete series on 33 discs including a 56-page collector's album, 2 soundtracks on 3 discs, Interviews with Executive Producer/Creator David Chase, Never Before Seen Discussions with Cast and Crew, What Means to be "Whacked" on The Sopranos by the Cast and Crew, Lost Scenes and more… You can check out the flash site, but it is going to tell you the same thing while music plays and a video previews the goodies you see to the left.

However, that is miniscule news when compared to the new Ultimate and Collector's Editions The Digital Bits have just revealed. While they don't have specific release dates some of the artwork is sure to get you excited.

The pic you see above previews the 300: Limited Collector's Edition on the left, which Digital Bits says will include all the previous DVD extras along with two new documentaries (Recreating the Spartan Era and 300: Legend Filtered Through History, Graphic Novel and Film), as well as other exclusive memorabilia (a lenticular hologram, artwork cards and more). They asked why not Blu-ray and as rumors have previously reported Warner is working on a major Blu-ray release for "2009, complete with new BD-Live and Bonus View content." So look for that.

On the right is the I Am Legend: Ultimate Collector's Edition box set, which will be available on both DVD and Blu-ray Disc, and will include an alternate version of the film with the "controversial ending," all-new special features such as a new filmmaker commentary, deleted scenes, "iconic" premium collectible items and more.

Now we have the nostalgic efforts with a Casablanca: Ultimate Collector's Edition on both DVD and Blu-ray Disc, which will include 40 minutes of special features, 2 feature-length commentaries, branded travel-related premiums, a photo book, and much more. There is also the JFK: Ultimate Collector's Edition on DVD, including special packaging, 3 hours of bonus content and collectible memorabilia, as well as an all new documentary, The Kennedy's: America's Emerald Kings. This title will also be available on Blu-ray Disc format in Digibook packaging.

The Digital Bits has larger versions of all the photos in this article along with information on Batman: The Complete Animated Series on DVD, The Flintstones: The Complete Series, Band of Brothers on Blu-ray, HBO's Deadwood: The Complete Series box set, The Wire: The Complete Series, The Peanuts Holiday Collection, A Christmas Story: Ultimate Collector's Edition, HBO's Get Smart: The Complete Series and Warner's The Man from U.N.C.L.E.: The Complete Series.

So, check all that out right here.
