2009 Oscar Presenters Kept Under Wraps

Well there goes a whole bunch of page views

I think it was three years ago when I first started listing the celebrities that would be presenting at the Oscars and then in 2007 and 2008 I kept running lists and updated them as more names were announced. I only did this because people read those posts as if they were found gold. I was always surprised at how many people actually cared who was presenting at the Oscars. So, of course, I planned on doing the same this year only to now realize the presenters will not be announced at any point.

The AP ran a report today in which Leslie Unger, a spokeswoman for the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, says none of the superstar presenters will be announced before the February 22 telecast. Oscar producers Laurence Mark and Bill Condon are breaking tradition. They're hoping to lure TV viewers by keeping the star power a secret until showtime.

Unger said Wednesday: "There will be fantastic movie stars that appeal to a whole range of movie lovers and fans of our show. We're just not going to tell you who they all are."

Well thank the Lord they will bring in the "fantastic" movie stars… just imagine if they brought in the C-list bums. I guess I have to hope people now come to read an article about how there won't be any names to satisfy those lost page views.

Well… I guess this isn't all that bad. I wouldn't mind being surprised.

Hmmm…well I may just have to use my psychic abilities, and predict that Tilda Swinton, Javier Bardem, Marion Cotillard, and Daniel Day Lewis will be four of them.

@Jenni: I agree, I was looking forward to Rob Pattinson and Kristen Stewart being presenters. I don't know if I'll watch without them being listed.

It seems that names are leaking out. Supposedly it's been confirmed that Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart are both presenting. The Robert Pattinson info was at HitFix.com.

I only watch if celebs i love will be there…i guess this is smart marketing because technically now i will have to watch to see if celebs i love will be there, but i may pull a 180 and not watch at all because i haven't the patience to sit through three hours of a show only to find no one i care about was there.
