'Apocalypto' Looking for New Home?
Gibson's tirade isn't sitting well with Disney
There is no surprise here as Fox News is reporting that Disney no longer wants anything to do with Mel Gibson's next film Apocalypto since his anti-Semetic outbursts upon being pulled over for drunken driving.
Word is that Lionsgate doesn't have the same reservations as the Mouse House as it has a history of picking up questionable projects from the studio as it did the same with Kevin Smith's Dogma and Michael Moore's documentary Fahrenheit 9/11.
As time goes by it is starting to seem unlikely that Gibson's outburst will destroy his career in Hollywood, what with rumors of a Lethal Weapon 5 being rumored, but I would say a studio like Disney is not going to stand for wuch actions.
Apocalypto was set to be released on December 5 and while it still sits at that date with Disney as the distributer we will have to wait and see how it all turns out.
After all this, the best part of the Fox story is that they claim to be "the first to speculate [that] Disney would not want to invest any money into 'Apocalypto'…" Really? No one else said this? Way to go Fox, once again you prove to be the lightning rod of hard hitting journalism and the first with the opinion that everyone else had.
