Edgar Wright's 'Ant-Man' Test Footage

Ant-Man test footage

The test footage Edgar Wright shot for Marvel for the Ant-Man film that screened at the San Diego Comic Con last year has shown up online and can be seen below. Almost certainly the final costume will look nothing like this, but the concept footage was shot merely to test the viability of a hero that can shrink to the size of an ant could be convincing theatrically. Give the footage a look and see what you think.

At this time the Ant-Man film is targeting a November 6, 2015 release.

Biochemist Dr. Hank Pym uses his latest discovery, a group of subatomic particles, to create a size-altering formula. Though his first self-test goes awry, he develops an instrument that helps him communicate with and control insects.

That was quick work on Disney's part.

It will come up to a good script for me, cause the footage makes Ant-Man look really cool and I thought It would look ridiculous. I mean, as it is, the test footage accomplishes what it wants and makes an awesome introduction to the style so I'm in.

This is cool as a short though, when talking about an entire movie, as I said, it will come to a good script, and that's were Edgar Wright comes in.

Thanks for the link, Rohan. I must say that that footage makes some good use of Ant-Man's powers in action. If that is the level of energy and imagination Wright will bring for the movie, than I am all for it!

    Not really interested in Ant-Man.

  • Good Grief

I thought the way his ability is incorporated in to the action was really smart. It actually looks really entertaining.
However, for once, I hope Wright tones down the comedy. I like his brand of humour but I'd prefer to see him focus on a solid super hero film, considering he's considered a geek of the genre.

He's an original Avenger in the comics. As long as these movies are done well, bring 'em on.

From a more feminine perspective (respectively, a Gay man's perspective lol) it's still kind of "cute". It's action-packed, sure, but the very BASIS of Ant-Man, the fact he can lift so and so amount times his body weight, is just... still "cute" to me
