Answers to the Guess the Movie Title Game - Take Two

Okay, so I apparently need to make this much, much harder as Driver was able to post the correct answers to all 24 of the movie titles in my second "Guess the Movie Titles" game within less than an hour. Of course, it makes me happy less than upset as you all came together to figure it out, which is my intention, but I want it to take much longer than two hours... two weeks is more like it!

That said, today I present the answers for anyone that missed them previously and if you'd like to guess without seeing the answers you can click here for the original post, just avoid looking at the reader guesses in the comments.

I wasn't at all surprised #10 stumped a lot of you, but the fact #22 proved so tough was a lot of fun to watch, especially when Django wrote, "It strikes me as being a Michael Mann type of shot. At first i thought it was Val Kilmer in Heat but it's doubtful." Never doubt yourself again Django!

I'm also realizing I need to be more careful with titles available in the Criterion Collection as I thought #12 would take a little longer than it did, but happy people are familiar with what I would say is the most entertaining documentary I've ever seen.

That said, I'm not sure I'll do this every week, but I can promise you I am planning one for next week, Monday most likely, and I am hoping will last the entire week and maybe even then no one will get it 100% correct. Wishful thinking? Maybe, but I am ready to offer up the challenge. You ready to accept?

    I've only seen 5 of these... :S

  • Harry Fuertes

Damn it. And I saw Heat like a week ago too!

  • Kessler

#12 kinda freaked me out a bit when I first saw it. I never could've guessed it in a million years. Looks like I need to add Crumb to my watchlist.

#12 was an easy one for me as I love Crumb but I wouldn't of got more than a dozen in total, I'm worse at this game than the box office challenge haha

  • Ryguy815

Yikes..I feel ashamed to say I've only seen two of these. The Shining and The Empire Strikes Back.

  • Shaun Heenan

I've seen 14 of them, and I feel like I should have seen more.

  • Django

Even though i haven't done too well in the last 2 games, i think it's great that i'm learning about all these films from the past. I have never seen Crumb before so i didn't get that one right but i've done some research and i really want to see it now.

And yeah, i can't believe i failed to put Heat down. It just goes to show that even if you have a instinct or ANY old guess, it's better than putting nothing due to not being 100% sure.

if you like Crumb then you should definitely check out American Splendor, not just because it's brilliant but someone playing Crumb plays a part in the movie

This. I love learning about all these films which I've never seen. This actually inspired me to watch both Crumb and The Magnificent Ambersons this week.

      • andyluvsfilms

there's so much good stuff out there that i haven't re-watched anything for about a month, im focusing on films i've never seen, past and present #goodtimes

  • Django

Thanks for the heads up but i actually saw American Splendor a few years back and i really enjoyed it. Very subversive, ingenious little film. I can't recall there being a Crumb character in it though, i'll have to rewatch it.

    • andyluvsfilms

oh you'll definitely spot him second time round, Harvey offers to write the story if Crumb illustrates, love that film

  • Josh McLaughlin

Cool challenge-looking forward to more of these!
