Focus Features has finally loosened the reigns and we have four brand new images from Anna Karenina, the latest film to bring director Joe Wright and star Keira Knightley together on the heels of Pride & Prejudice and Atonement. This time they set out to tell a new adaptation of Leo Tolstoy's 1878 novel with a script by Tom Stoppard (Shakespeare in Love) and they are joined by fellow cast members Aaron Johnson, Jude Law, Matthew Macfadyen, Domhnall Gleeson, Alicia Vikander, Kelly Macdonald, Ruth Wilson, Olivia Williams and Emily Watson.
The is set in late-19th-century Russia high-society and explores the capacity for love that surges through the human heart, from the passion between adulterers to the bond between a mother and her children. As Anna (Knightley) questions her happiness, change comes to her family, friends, and community.
In these new pics you'll see first looks at Knightley in the title role along with Jude Law as Alexei Karenin and Aaron Johnson as Count Vronsky. The film does not yet have a release date, but is expected to hit theaters this fall.

looks fantastic. Keira looks great ! very excitement for the joe wright and keira coming together again.
since we are in the oscar week - this looks like a definite contender for the oscar for best costume design
I'm still waiting for Keira and Joe Wright to hit their respective career apexes. I think this project might be just the thing to elevate both of their work into the stratosphere and bring home Oscar gold.
One thing I do admire (and enjoy so much) with Joe Wright's movies is the marriage of scenes and music.
The sweet, relaxing, carefree piano pieces in Pride and Prejudice.. That typewriter in Atonement, and the cool energy of the Chemical Brothers.
I'm not yet done reading Anna but now I'm enjoying it. Be looking at Levin's character.
This film sounds brilliant - GREAT cast, GREAT craft (as per expected from a Wright film) and a very interesting concept... apparently the whole film is shot on one location! How very Von Trier.
Hopefully Keira has worked on her Russian accent since A Dangerous Method. Her accent was laughably terrible in that film.
Another expensive effort in trying to fool the world into thinking Keira Knightley can act.
