Sony spent the last couple of days preparing fans for the following New Year's 2014 promo trailer for The Amazing Spider-Man 2 in which Electro (Jamie Foxx) sets out to destroy Times Square and Spider-Man (Andrew Garfield) swings in to save everyone. Check it out below.

We've always known that Spider-Man's most important battle has been within himself: the struggle between the ordinary obligations of Peter Parker and the extraordinary responsibilities of Spider-Man. But in The Amazing Spider-Man 2, Peter Parker finds that a greater conflict lies ahead.

It's great to be Spider-Man (Andrew Garfield). For Peter Parker, there's no feeling quite like swinging between skyscrapers, embracing being the hero, and spending time with Gwen (Emma Stone). But being Spider-Man comes at a price: only Spider-Man can protect his fellow New Yorkers from the formidable villains that threaten the city. With the emergence of Electro (Jamie Foxx), Peter must confront a foe far more powerful than he. And as his old friend, Harry Osborn (Dane DeHaan), returns, Peter comes to realize that all of his enemies have one thing in common: OsCorp.

% chance that part of Electro's plan is to turn people into lizards for no particular reason. [robotsrule]

That would be ridiculous! % chance that part of Electro's plan is to turn people into electricians for no particular reason. :-)

I like that Electro at least is a villain with a real goal. He wants to turn off the power, presumably for revenge or to control things or whatever. The Lizard on the other hand, well we never really knew what his goal was outside of making everyone a Lizard.

        • Paul Hennen

Really? I thought it was pretty obvious he wanted to make the human race stronger, because the lizard saw people as being too weak of a race, that the side-effect of being...lizard was necessary to make that happen.

          • Musikonica

It was pretty obvious. Anyone unsure of what the Lizard's goal was must have covered their ears.

            • robotsrule

Yeah, well it's not so much that we didn't know what the Lizard wanted, I just didn't find it particularly compelling cinema.

              • Musikonica

I think it was a decent lead to the next one though. Spider-man essentially giving OsCorp the means to create super villains via Dr. Conner's work is a responsibility he'll have to be feeling. And I'm positive that this is not the first time the Lizard has been depicted as feeling superior to humans and trying to 'fix' everyone. Not that that should make it more compelling, of course. Just was neat to see it this time in live action, for me.

Yup, you are right. I am amazed in how people watch these movies and miss over the obvious.

Example: In Iron Man 3, Killian was just claiming to be the Mandarin, just list Ben Kingley's character was, so they can bring him out later....

I don't see how people don't realize this... To me it was obvious.

            • Paul Hennen

I can agree with that though to be honest Mandarin should've been the 1st film...ten rings, cmon!
Then again, people also seem to think Pirates Of The Carribean (especially the sequels) have confusing plots...ok...

              • ismhmr

Well, most likely he has been in the background since the first film.

The graphics look good, I can't wait to play it on deathmatch.

    Electro is freakin awesome...and I saw a Rhino shot too...I know it's a metal suit but I don't mind...bring on the intensity!!!

It looks fine and I'll probably see it..but it just looks so much like a video game!

My anticipation for this is nonexistent.

Strange..........for a costly tentpole it looks like they spent as little on the CGI as they did in the last one.

Finally a traditional, wise-cracking Spider-Man. And Jamie Foxx looks great. I'm not super excited to see this movie but I'll definitely give it a watch.

  • yrabadi

I actually don't mind this. It looks fun, amateurish and very colorful... It's kinda what Spidey should be like, in my opinion. I didn't mind the first, and I doubt I'll mind this one much either.

Is this a trailer for the film or the videogame tie-in?
