50 Cent Replacing Forest Whitaker in Stallone's 'Expendables'
And one fanboy isn't particularly impressed
Take a look around the Internet and you will see a few upset folks concerning the news out of Ain't It Cool News reporting 50 Cent has replaced Forest Whitaker in Sylvester Stallone's upcoming actioner The Expendables as if this was a movie depending on top notch acting.
The craziest rant comes from Alex Billington at First Showing who proclaims "50 Cent is probably the worst actor ever!" (I always get a kick out of it when people play the "ever" card) Billington then takes it a step further saying, "No one should ever cast him, and no one should ever put him in their movie, not ever, no matter the circumstances. I really don't know how Sly could think 50 Cent is an acceptable replacement for an Oscar winner?!"
I don't know about you, but I would like to see a movie with Billington tapping out that rant at his desktop, and just for kicks cast 50 Cent to play him. Chill out Alex, it's a B-movie with actors such as Randy Couture, "Stone Cold" Steve Austin and Dolph Lundgren, we aren't talking about high cinema here.
50 Cent replaces Whitaker due to a scheduling conflict as production on the film was pushed back a month. Fitty will be taking over as Hale Caesar in the film that follows three mercenaries (Stallone, Jason Statham and Jet Li) sent to infiltrate a South American country and overthrow its ruthless dictator to liberate the population.
Dark Horizons reports the film is set for an April 23, 2010 release through Lionsgate.

Thank god! Someone out there has the balls to call out Billington. He's nuts.
I really see no problem with them putting him in the movie….since come on, its not a movie about "top notch acting" its an action film filled with action stars. I'm not saying 50 cent is a good actor but I do think hes better then stone cold and probly even Dulph Lundgren.
With 50 cent in it it becomes a C movie, he's probly putting money in the movie, otherwise nobody wants him
Why am I nuts? I don't understand? As I said in my post, ANYone else as a replacement would've been fine. WHY are you defending 50 Cent? Have you SEEN his movies? If not, just admit it, but I've seen them and he SUCKS. It's not just bad, it's the worst, I wanted to throw things at the screen because I was so frustrated by this guy. You haven't had this experience, too? You just have to call me out because I'm the "nuts" guy on the internet? What about when you have a passionate stance on something? No?
@Alex (FirstShowing.net):
You're nuts because you over exagerate EVERYthing (see what I did there). You honestly believe anyone would have been better? So, you'd be cool if Sly cast Arsenio Hall in the role?
It's not about casting Arsenio Hall, it's about casting 50 Cent, and going from an Oscar winner to the bottom of a barrel! We're talking about people that could feasibly FIT this role, out of anyone he could've chosen, 50 Cent is pretty much the worst. You can't just forgive him because it's a bad film anyway! Come the fuck on, this is ridiculous, 50 Cent is bad, and everyone is just going along with it to spite me? This is so ridiculous…
@Alex (FirstShowing.net):
No you're ridiculous. 50 Cent isn't a great actor by any stretch, but holy god it's not the end of the world.
And it is about casting Arsenio Hall. You said you'd be cool with ANYONE either then 50, so?
Stop taking what I said so literally… The point was that out of people that could fit the role, 50 Cent is the worst. And glad you admit he is terrible. And since when did I say it's the end of the world? I just wrote my article and commented on the news, just like you're doing, too. No end of the world here?
Also, Brad, if you'd done your research, you'd know that Lionsgate bought the rights for this, which is why it has that 2010 release date. That date is official, it came from Lionsgate, and I'm sorry you missed that news when it hit a few weeks ago.
@Alex (FirstShowing.net):
I'll stop taking you so literally when you start writing like a normal person instead of some over the top fanboy. This is a direct quote from your FS post:
"Okay, I'm sorry, but if it were anyone else, and I literally mean anyone else, I would've said sure, I don't mind, it's not the most important role in the movie. But 50 Cent?"
So again, Arsenio Hall, you'd be cool with him?
I think you finally stumpped him. nice.
No, I'm just tired of pointlessly arguing in comments…
As for Arsenio, sure, why not, he's better than 50 Cent. And if he was cast, Sly would have to re-write the role for him, and if he did, sure, it'd be a better role than 50 fucking Cent being in it.
Hardly a replacement. My expectations for this movie just went down a notch.
Good one, Jason. Glad Im not the only one who thinks Alex goes extremely crazy quite often.
@Alex (FirstShowing.net):
How does it feel being the laughing stock of the internet movie community?
Curtis Jackson is Hale Caesar, not Will Sands.
And He isn't the worse actor in the world. I actually think he's alot better then some other rappers to come to the big screen.
I like him better than common at least. common is a terrible actor.
UPDATE!!!
Terry Crewes will play the role instead of 50 Cent!!!
http://aintitcool.com/node/40516
Terry Crewes was featured in such films as Get Smart, The Longest Yard, and Friday After Next.
Wow! When you want your movie to be really popular the solution is simple: replace all of your Oscar-nominated cast members and replace them with Rappers.
So, instead of Denzel Washington vs. John Travolta in "The Taking of Pelham 123," you get Diddy vs. Eminem. Oh, and then get Sean Kingston instead of Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury in Iron Man 2.
Why haven't the studios thought of this before. They could save money by hiring musicians, plus they write/perform a song for the movie. Lets hope this continues. Genius. I can't wait for the remake of Mr. & Mrs. Smith starring Hillary Duff & Nick Jonas in tru 3D!!! Will be the Best. Movie. Ever.
