'300' Opens to $27.8 Million!
Friday night proves Miller equals money.
300 just murdered everything in its path. The R rated Spartan epic soared to a $27.8 million dollar Friday (According to BoxOfficeMojo) which gives it a shot at the biggest March opening ever (Ice Age 2: $68 million). It scored three and a half times the dollars of the next highest grosser on Friday, Wild Hogs at $7.9m
I had it making $42 million for the weekend, I was afraid the buzz was all internet related and not the average "Joe Public" kind. The R rating didn’t inspire confidence in me either as it negates some of the teen dollars.
Clearly I was wrong! I think the film, come Sunday’s numbers, WILL break the $68 million mark and my new, up to the second prediction is $74 million big ones. Don’t let me down Sparta!
Side note: Congrats to all the 300 guys, you clearly knocked this one out of the park.
