23 New Images from 'The Lovely Bones' Makes a Packed Gallery
Only a short distance separates the two
Paramount and DreamWorks Studios have just revealed 23 new images from The Lovely Bones, which hits limited theaters on December 11 and expands throughout the month and I know this is my third image post of the day, but that one above just struck me as quite impressive for those of us that have read the book (or perhaps a few Sergio Leone fans out there in what is a wild alternative to the traditional standoff). I just wish it was in widescreen and not cropped, as I imagine there is a bit of additional room to the left and right of the two characters in the actual shot in the film.

The Lovely Bones stars Rachel Weisz, Saoirse Ronan, Stanley Tucci, Susan Sarandon, Michael Imperioli and Mark Wahlberg and is based on the critically acclaimed best-selling novel by Alice Sebold, and directed by Oscar winner Peter Jackson. The story centers on a young girl who has been murdered and watches over her family – and her killer – from heaven. She must weigh her desire for vengeance against her desire for her family to heal.

"I just wish it was in widescreen and not cropped"
Actually, that is probably an actual 35mm film frame from the movie. Since it's being shot Super35, the whole 1.33 film frame is filled (to make it easy to create a TV version) but the primary composition is a 2.35 shape just a little higher than center, which will be extracted and turned into a "scope" release print for those theaters still showing film (as opposed to digital projection). The frame just looks filled with wasted space on top and bottom.
