Ten New Pictures from YA Adaptation 'Divergent'

Is this a young adult adaptation that will stand out in a crowd?

Summit just sent over ten new pictures from their upcoming young adult adaptation Divergent, which is set in a future where America is divided into five ideological factions to stabilize society and uphold peace, every citizen must choose a permanent faction at age 16 - either their own or another. In it Shailene Woodley stars as Tris Prior who is warned she is Divergent and will never fit into any one group. When she discovers a conspiracy to destroy all Divergents, she must find out what makes being Divergent so dangerous before it's too late.

Directed by Neil Burger (The Illusionist), the film co-stars Theo James, Kate Winslet, Tony Goldwyn, Ray Stevenson, Maggie Q, Mekhi Phifer, Jai Courtney, Miles Teller and Zoƫ Kravitz.

Obviously comparisons to The Hunger Games will be made as I have only read the above synopsis and I can already see comparisons, so Summit will have to do their best to attempt to appeal to the same audience without looking as if they are selling the same product.

Divergent hits theaters on March 21, 2014. Check out the new pictures below and let me know if you think this looks like a stand-out-of-the-crowd kind of movie or just another YA adaptation that will follow in the footsteps of films such as Eragon and Beautiful Creatures.

This will make a crap load of money at the box office. It has a bigger fan base than Beautiful Creatures so it will definitely hot bomb as hard as BC did back in February.

Looks somewhat decent. Seems to be a bit of Hunger Games rip off.

Not a fan of the Hunger Games and not digging this one much either

The Twilight Saga and the subsequent Robsten crap that over-powered it really put me off YA altogether. I enjoyed the books, but the films were awful. I will eventually see this, but won't be running to the theater for it.

Oh great, they're trying to turn Shailene Woodley into the next Jennifer Lawrence. This film just smacks of The Hunger Games.

If you haven't read the books then you can't criticise. It's nothing like The Hunger Games. There's no love triangle. The only similarity is there's a heroine and many deaths.
